Research Manager, The Sustainability Consortium

Dr. Carole Mars is the Senior Research Lead at The Sustainability Consortium, Arizona State University, responsible for the development of the Sustainability Measurement and Reporting System for manufactured and formulated goods supply chains. In addition, she leads research initiatives at TSC related to consumer adoption of low temperature wash for laundry and applications of TSC's work in supporting circular economy business models. Prior to joining the Consortium, Dr. Mars worked as a process engineer in the semiconductor equipment manufacturing industry. Dr. Mars earned her PhD at Pennsylvania State University, in surface analytical chemistry and her bachelor of science in chemistry at the University of Arizona.

Sustainability Panel - Carole Mars

How do consumers define sustainability? Is it "all natural" or "organic" products? Maybe it is products with a low carbon footprint or made with recycled or recyclable ingredients? This panel will deliberate the differences between what we, the wipes industry, define as sustainable and how consumers interpret sustainability. Each member of the panel will share how their company satisfies the consumers' interpretation of sustainability when it can mean so many different things.
