Sandler expands US plant – 60-million-dollar investment in new building and production line
Nonwoven manufacturer Sandler has broken ground on the expansion of its US plant in Perry, Georgia. A new production line is scheduled to start production in fall 2020.
Schwarzenbach/Saale, Germany – September 16, 2019 – Excavation works are starting at Sandler Nonwoven Corporation: To the northwest of the existing building, preparations are underway for the construction of a 135,000 sq. ft. building, that is to house production and warehouse facilities. In this extension building, installation of a new manufacturing line for nonwovens for hygiene applications will commence early next year. Start of production is scheduled for fall 2020. All in all, this investment will create 70 new jobs in different departments at the Perry site.
Expanding its US plant will enable Sandler to continue to grow in the local market. “Sandler nonwovens made in USA allow us to continuously develop and advance our longstanding business relationships to companies in the North American market. This investment is the next step towards establishing a competence center for nonwovens production here in Perry,” says Tobias Baumgaertel, President of Sandler Nonwoven Corporation.
On occasion of a press conference, Dr. Christian Heinrich Sandler, President & CEO of Sandler AG, thanked the authorities and institutions of the State of Georgia, Houston County and the City of Perry. Above all, however, he addressed the staff members of Sandler Nonwoven Corporation. “During the past three years, a great team has been assembled here. I would like to thank “Team Perry” for their dedication, hard work, and loyalty to the company. We are proud to have you as part of the Sandler family.”
The expansion of the Perry, Georgia, site is part of a new series of investments Sandler announced on occasion of its 140th company anniversary earlier this year. Over the next two years, Sandler plans to invest a total of 90 million dollars at the company headquarters in Schwarzenbach/Saale, Germany as well as Sandler Nonwoven Corporation in Perry, Georgia, USA.
