Extra Organic — A Sustainable Supply Chain

Norafin

The use of renewable raw materials is important for the sustainability of our production chain. It is not only the use of natural fibers as a main focus, but also the sustainability of the entire value chain with regards to procurement, storage, production, and packaging of nonwovens. This also includes the prevention of waste and its recirculation.

We started this sustainability journey over the last 15 years at our headquarters in Germany and have since applied the same structure to our North Carolina production facility. Over the last two years we have worked to qualify natural fibers on our US line and are currently producing hemp and flax based products in the US as well as in Germany.
Will Matthews, Senior Sales Manager, Norafin Americas Inc.

We look for alternatives to man-made fibers for our nonwovens. We develop functional materials with further developed features that are not only multi-usable, but also biodegradable at the end of their lifecycle.

Renewable Raw Materials we process:

  • Viscose
  • Lyocell
  • Flax
  • Hemp
  • Sheep Wool
  • PLA

Through continuous innovation, SK leaveo is setting a new industry standard for eco-friendly nonwoven materials, proving that sustainability and high performance can go together.

Norafin Image 1 On the other side of sustainability, we also look at ways to reduce our waste impact in landfills and our environment. The main way that we reduce our waste streams is by reclaiming edge trim and waste rolls by regrinding the fiber so that it can be used in future productions of our nonwoven products.

Norafin Image 1 Our Extra Organic brand doesn't just focus on natural fibers but a sustainable supply chain and managing each step through the process of turning sustainable fiber options into finished nonwovens.
