PFNONWOVENS
Thanks to a joint effort with Smart Plastic Technologies, this international nonwovens manufacturer is making breakthroughs in end-of-life solutions for nonwovens, with a technology that renders polyolefins degradable.
Magnera's purpose is to better the world with new possibilities made real. By co-creating and innovating with partners, Magnera develops original material solutions that make a brighter future possible. Our distinct scale, wide portfolio of solutions and sustainability expertise bring more materials and more choices —keeping customers ahead of the trends. With a combined legacy of resilience, Magnera builds personal partnerships that withstand an ever-changing world.
Magnera's closed-loop recycling ecosystem, Endura™, is central to helping customers meet their quality and sustainability goals. Endura™ incorporates up to 90% post-industrial recycled materials into the manufacturing of our spunbond product line, offering a powerful solution for reducing waste and enhancing product sustainability. In addition, we have expanded our Endura portfolio by developing a patent-pending, post-industrial recycled meltblown solution. This expansion allows us to offer our customers access to high-quality, recycled content products while simultaneously providing an outlet for post-industrial plastic scrap. Products within the Endura line are certified under the SCS Recycled Content Certification, which guarantees the percentage of recycled materials used, enabling customers to showcase the SCS logo on-pack and validate their use of recycled content.
Introduced three years ago, Magnera's closed loop recycling ecosystem has seen continued growth, supported by our increased technical and operational capabilities. Over time, this platform has expanded to include complementary technologies, such as Endura Film. Through this ecosystem, we supply nonwoven materials, offer the collection of post-industrial scrap from our customers' conversion processes, and reincorporate that recycled material into the Endura product line. This results in a suite of products, including spunbond and spunmelt materials, that now feature up to 90% recycled content. These products are used in diverse applications, including hygiene products, disinfecting wipes, home and bedding, and industrial applications.
The integration of post-industrial recycled materials significantly reduces CO2 emissions by 70% per kilogram compared to virgin materials. This reduction directly contributes to customers' emission reduction targets and helps minimize the need for virgin resources.
Magnera's Endura collection and recycling initiative exemplify our commitment to enhancing the availability of recycled materials and reducing the industry's reliance on virgin polymers. By increasing the circularity of our nonwoven products, we are actively driving change to better the world with new possibilities made real. As a part of the Endura ecosystem, Magnera collaborates with customers to collect and repelletize nonwoven scrap from their operations, ensuring that this material reenters the product stream as a new, high-quality nonwoven materials for use by customers. Through these innovative approaches, Magnera is helping turn possibilities into reality, creating a sustainable future for generations to come.
