Techmer ES’s Tom Drye to Speak at JEC Americas Houston Automotive Composites Circle
Keynote Highlights Collaboration and Best Practices for Achieving Rapid Innovation
CLINTON, Tenn., May 27, 2015 – Techmer ES, a wholly owned subsidiary of Techmer PM, LLC, and leading producer of engineered thermoplastic compounds, announced that Managing Director Tom Drye has been invited to deliver a keynote address about the role of collaboration in technology innovation at the Automotive Composites Circle at the 4th annual JEC Americas Houston Composites Show and Conferences in June.
Mr. Drye will discuss how an open, collaborative process helps push forward technical advances much faster than a traditional, sequential development approach. He will share with attendees his perspective about a highly successful collaboration between Techmer ES, Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), and several other partners that produced a full-size 3-D printed Shelby Cobra car in the span of six weeks.
Mr. Drye also will share best practices in collaboration, helping attendees understand how they can yield rapid innovation and radically increase the speed of product introductions.
“Techmer ES knows first-hand the enormous value of collaboration,” Mr. Drye said. “The lessons we learned are applicable to OEMs, material providers, equipment makers, and other tier suppliers who tend to work in silos and limit interactions due to the close guarding of information. By sharing our recent experience, we hope to create a greater understanding about the process and multiple benefits of teamwork.”
JEC Group, the world’s leading composites organization exclusively dedicated to composites materials, will hold its JEC Americas Composites Show and Conferences on June 2-4 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston. The 3-D printed Shelby will be featured in the Innovation Corner on the show floor. For more information, visit the JEC Americas website.
Mr. Drye will speak on June 3 during the show’s Automotive Composites Circle.
