Two international industry associations representing companies involved
in the global manufacture of hygiene products containing nonwoven textiles
have combined forces to launch guidelines for manufacturers to use
in determining if their products are suitable for disposal via the
wastewater system.
The Guidance Document on the Flushability of Nonwoven Consumer Products,
published by INDA and EDANA, represents the first ever initiative to
provide companies with a comprehensive framework for testing products
to determine their flushability. It reflects the industry’s commitment
to responsible use and disposal of the products it makes and distributes.
Ahlstrom, Kimberly-Clark and Procter & Gamble are sponsoring this
free Flushability webinar to explain the guidelines and their impact
on the industry.
Nonwoven
and chemical companies that export their products into Europe are urged
to immediately begin the process of complying with the new far-ranging
European Union REACH – Registration, Evaluation,
Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals – Regulations. The
critical pre-registration process for REACH begins June 1, 2008, and
continues through November 30, 2008. Failure to pre-register
may require removal of a product from the European market after January
1, 2009.
Being phased in since its inception in June of 2007, REACH is a comprehensive
European system that affects all manufacturers who import chemicals
into the European Union or produce chemicals in Europe. Basically,
it establishes safety and environmental guidelines for chemicals produced
in Europe or exported to Europe from anywhere in the world while changing
the responsibility from government to industry to prove that a chemical
is safe for use. Learn what your company needs to do to comply
with the regulations in this free REACH Webinar.
