Recent Advancements in
Nanofiltration
Ashish Mathur, Ph.D., Ahlstrom Corporation
The different technologies practiced
to achieve submicron and nanoscale
filtration will be discussed. Potential
opportunities and challenges for nanofiber
technology in filtration will also be
discussed.
New Advances in Nanofiber
Electrospinning Technology
Chris Shields, Finetex Technology, Inc.
Electrospinning is currently the best
available technology for producing nano
scale organic and inorganic fibers. The
technology can be applied to a broad
range of markets and applications.
Recent advances in process technology
have made electrospun nanofibers a
cost- effective method to enhance nonwoven
performance.
Nano-fibers for Automotive
and Heavy Duty Filtration
Applications
Norman Lifshutz, Hollingsworth & Vose
Company
In recent years the Automotive and
Heavy Duty industries have become
increasingly concerned with the effect
of fine particle dusts. Well established theory suggests that fibers in the nanometer
range of diameters should give
the highest efficiencies for the finest
particles. However, test protocols have
to be modified or developed to use fine
particle contaminants, such as soot, in
order to demonstrate these advantages.
The automotive industry has to decide
whether to adopt new test methods that
reflect real life, and to commercialize a
new range of filter media that perform
well under such conditions.
Recent Melt Spinning
Methods to Produce Nano-fibers
Arnold E. Wilkie, Hills, Inc.
This presentation will summarize and
illustrate recent melt blown technologies
and the latest bicomponent technologies
claimed to produce nanofibers.
