Checklist
A step by step series of suggestions (based on steps 1-4, below) to ensure that the details are addressed BEFORE final decisions are made.

  • Identify Filtration Objectives – List them out, use the list when requesting service or product quotations.
  • Know Your Contaminants – Make the effort to characterize and document what challenges exists
  • Recognize the operational Dynamics – Build an impact/influence list if the are many facets. Make sure you know the impact.
  • Make contact with Potential vendors and service providers – Learn what you can about options and alternatives.
  • Write a bid specification – Base it on the line items above. Make sure that performance targets are documented and up to date.
  • Request quotations – Make it focused on the bid specification. Remove the intangibles for the negotiating process.
  • Evaluate the proposals – Make sure they address the issues above and have no hidden subjects or incomparable aspects.
  • Make the decision – Include the accountable as well as the responsible personnel in the organization.
  • Follow up – Know the results. Get input from the end user. Make notes on both successes and failures. Sharpen your knowledge base for the next round.
